Supply chain professor Richard Wilding has been awarded an OBE in the New Year Honours list.
Wilding, who is chair in supply chain strategy at the Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management at Cranfield University has been given the honour for services to business.
On Twitter he said he was "surprised, thrilled and humbled" to receive the OBE, and wrote on his blog: “I am personally both incredibly honoured and thrilled to have received this award, it also recognises Cranfield School of Management's global excellence in the area of logistics and supply chain management and also makes me proud of the impact on business Cranfield has."
Wilding has published hundreds of academic papers on supply chain research, and in 2005 became chair in supply chain risk management at Cranfield in recognition of his contribution to this area of expertise.
There was also an OBE for David Peacop, head of logistics at CLM, the Olympic Delivery Authority delivery partner, for services to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
