Former IBM procurement executive
John
Sharman has been appointed to lead the
global buying practice at AlexanderProudfoot.
His
responsibilities at the consultancy firm include identifying, developing and
implementing tools and systems to help clients improve their
procurement functions and maximise their returns. He will be based at the company’s
headquarters in Atlanta in the US.
Prior
to this appointment, Sharman worked at a senior level
for a number of consultancies for the past five years on operational issues, gaining experience over a
range of industry sectors. Before this, he spent 30 years at IBM, where he became global
procurement practice executive and
provided leadership as the company diversified and grew from a computer company
into the world’s largest IT and consulting services company.
Sharman said of
his new role: “There is already a very solid foundation to build upon that
will enable Alexander Proudfoot to become quickly the consulting firm to go to
for effective procurement transformations.”
