Business outsourcing firm buyingTeam has hired Accenture’s former director in charge of procurement services.
Vinny Patel was appointed commercial director of buyingTeam, which provides procurement outsourcing, on 4 January.
In his newly created position, Patel will be responsible for developing procurement strategies for buyingTeam’s clients, which include British Airways, National Grid and Morrisons.
At Accenture, Patel had sales responsibilities including procurement outsourcing. He has 20 years’ experience in procurement. He worked at SmithKline Beecham as European category manager for facilities management. He has also managed the marketing category for the region at the pharmaceutical company.
The procurement specialist also worked as contracts manager for the London Underground, where he was responsible for maintenance contracts on the central line.
Patel said: “Clients find themselves in procurement difficulties and it is my job to help them improve their operational capability by providing procurement solutions. I am very excited to be part of buyingTeam's continued success and expansion."
BuyingTeam has grown by 25 per cent annually for more than five years.
