Eight suppliers have been awarded a place on a UK government facilities management (FM) framework agreement.
The framework, which provides public sector procurement professionals with a selection of pre-qualified providers covering FM services, will run for four years, although contracts signed within it could run for up to seven.
The eight companies are Carillion, EC Harris, Europa, Interserve, ISS, MITIE, Norland Managed Services and Skanska.
The government has spent £117 million during the lifetime of the previous FM agreement, which began in 2006 and expired at the end of last year.
Government purchasing agency Buying Solutions said: “We have had a number of framework agreements and OJEU [tenders] outstanding following the general election. These have been subject to a comprehensive review to ensure they deliver best value procurement and reduce prices for common goods and services. We are now in a position to proceed with the launch of these framework agreements and posting of OJEU notices.
“We have increased the number of suppliers on the new framework from five to eight to provide greater choice, coverage and competition for customers.”
The FM agreement covers areas such as health and safety, risk, environmental and business continuity management, mechanical and electrical maintenance, fire detection systems, security systems, catering, cleaning and waste management.
