Marks & Spencer’s former supply chain expert has been hired by Waitrose as head of supply chain development and support. 



Ian Mumby joins Waitrose on 8 November. He has been the head of logistics, supply chain & IT in Marks & Spencer’s food division for the past seven years.

 His previous roles include logistics and commercial roles within Safeway Stores between 1996 and 2003. 


David Jones, Waitrose supply chain director, said: “Ian has a huge depth of experience in logistics and supply chain roles, and his experience and industry knowledge will be an enormous benefit to Waitrose as we expand our business.

”

Meanwhile, the US groceries giant the Kroger Co  has promoted Jeffrey Burt to group vice-president of perishables merchandising and procurement.



Burt previously served as vice-president of deli and bakery merchandising and procurement for the company, a position he has held since 2004. Kroger employs more than 334,000 workers in 2,468 supermarkets and department stores in 31 states under 24 local brand names.



“Jeff is an excellent merchandiser with a deep understanding of our customers’ preferences in perishable departments,” said Rodney McMullen, Kroger president and chief operating officer. “His experience and leadership will help guide the growth of our important produce, meat, seafood, deli and bakery offerings.”
