Fashion retailer New Look has hired Gant’s former global sourcing director to strengthen its sourcing and supply operations.

Mike Mikkelborg starts work as New Look’s group sourcing director on 4 January after leaving Gant earlier this month. He succeeds New Look’s former group sourcing director Alan Osborne.

In his new role, Mikkelborg will be responsible for the clothing retailer’s procurement, including ethical assurance and quality monitoring.

New Look appointed an external auditor to examine its supply chain practices in November, following allegations of poor workers’ treatment at a factory in Leicester, sub-contracted by one of the retailer’s supplier. New Look said it does not permit sub-contracting, to ensure suppliers comply with its guidelines and to allow monitoring.

New Look is a member of the Ethical Trading Initiative, an alliance of companies working to improve workers’ lives.
