Former UK cabinet minister Michael Portillo has been confirmed as a speaker at this year’s CIPS conference.
The writer and broadcaster will deliver the final plenary presentation at the event, sponsored by Office Depot, on 23 September.
The conference – “Driving Business, Delivering Opportunity, Directing the Future” – will be held at Kings Place in central London. It will cover issues facing buyers including how to raise profile, gaining influence, reputation, relationships and innovation.
It will be chaired by Financial Times and SM columnist Stefan Stern and will include speeches from CIPS president Shirley Cooper and John Timpson, chief executive of shoe repair chain Timpson.
Delegates will also be able to take part in specialised sessions covering outsourcing, stakeholder relations, law and the public sector.
Alongside the conference there will be an exhibition, giving delegates the chance to find out about new products and services, while providing exhibitors the chance to make contacts and influence decision-makers.
The day, which is expected to attract up to 250 international purchasers, will end with a networking drinks reception.
