A senior buyer is supporting fundraising efforts to send English athletes to the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi this year.

ITV procurement director Angela Porter (pictured right) is working with Commonwealth Games England (CGE) to raise as much as £500,000 for the preparation and participation of the England Team in October’s sports competition.

She became involved in fundraising last year through her friend, CGE chief executive Ann Hogbin (pictured left). Porter now has a central role in the efforts alongside CGE president, two-time British Olympic gold medallist Dame Kelly Holmes (pictured centre).

Porter has been using her procurement acumen, contacts book and influencing skills to pull together a number of fundraising events. Central to her plans will be a gala dinner on 14 June, where it is hoped £250,000 will be raised from an auction and other entertainment.

The money will be used to transport the England team to and from New Delhi and ensure their stay in the athletes’ village is comfortable.

“We are confident that, with Angela’s support, we will enhance the village experience for the athletes and ensure they perform at their optimum,” Hogbin told SM.
