Camelot Group will next year review its procurement processes to raise standards on sustainability.

In its stakeholder report out this week, the operator of the UK’s National Lottery said it would assess purchasing procedures and incorporate any CSR aims in its procurement and tendering guidelines.

Camelot also revealed a target to secure CIPS certification for its purchasing policies and practices in 2010.

In addition, the organisation will reissue its supplier relationship management handbook, which includes a code of conduct and vendor behaviour expectations. This will form part of plans to work more closely with vendors to cut carbon emissions.

Nearly a third of Camelot’s 750 suppliers said its standards on sustainability had influenced their own operations in the past year. In addition, more than 25 per cent said Camelot’s policies had improved the way they work with their own vendors.

The group, which spent £310 million last year, also aims to cut its business travel emissions by ensuring its fleet is run on diesel.
