Denis Kenny has been appointed supply chain practice leader for German consulting business Management Engineers.
The company launched its UK office in September and Kenny is now part of its executive team given the task of increasing business.
"My goal is to ensure the company's business in the UK achieves the same quality and performance as it does in continental Europe.
"It was a pull from the market which prompted us to open an office in the UK," he said.
Kenny was previously at procurement consultancy QP Group, which he left last July. Since then he has been an independent consultant for a number of companies, including Management Engineers.
He told
SM he had received a number of job offers and since he classed many of his clients as friends, a key criterion for choosing a position was whether he would be happy to introduce his new employer to clients.
He added that he was impressed by the firm's "refreshingly different" approach.
"It's not about the hard sell, it's about putting in technically very strong, senior people - and only putting in those people that the clients really need."
Management Engineers has clients from across the manufacturing, pharmaceutical and aerospace sectors and is experiencing growing interest from the financial services sector.
