A UK IT firm is to focus on public sector e-procurement, following its £800k takeover of a rival.

When Proactis bought Requisoft last week it gave its existing customers access to a range of software that had not been compatible with Requisoft software prior to the deal. Customers can access resources that include e-auction software, electronic invoicing and the ability to source for suppliers.

Rod Jones, the CEO of Proactis, told supplymanagement .com: "The focus for our company will be on selling our services direct to the public sector." He said the Gershon Review stressed the importance of cutting costs in procurement and the company wanted to show how e-procurement could save resources for the NHS, schools, councils and police authorities.

The deal adds 30 clients to the Proactis portfolio and Requisoft customers will continue to receive support from the company.
