Buy4London gets hot deal on boilers

19 April 2006 | Anusha Bradley

London housing procurement group, Buy4London, has agreed to purchase 30,000 boilers through national buying consortium Procurement for Housing, saving over £6.6 million by 2011.

Buy4London, which manages more than 200,000 properties, estimates it will spend £20 million on boilers made by Vaillant over the next five years.

The high-efficiency boilers will reduce the amount of energy wasted, reducing tenants' bills.

The first boilers have already been delivered and it is expected that most of the 10 local buying consortia that make up Buy4London will use the contract before September this year.

Brian Hillman, group procurement manager for Buy4London member Circle Anglia, said the contract will help members to deliver standards for decent homes set by the government, as well as allowing them to make efficiency savings.

Julie Craig, Procurement for Housing director, said the group is now working with Buy4London to negotiate contracts for bathroom components and kitchen units.
