BT disconnects broadband for Euro1Net clients

07 September 2006

BT has cut off the broadband connections of about 5,500 business and domestic customers following a dispute with Euro1Net.

BT Wholesale terminated the services it provided to Euro1Net on 21 August following "repeated non-payment of invoices". A BT spokesman declined to disclose how much Euro1Net owes for lease of the lines.

He said BT would consider reconnecting Euro1Net, but not until it received payment. He added that there was no indication from Euro1Net that this would be forthcoming.

A Euro1Net statement said it was working to resolve the issue, but was unable to comment further because of possible legal action. BT said it was unaware of any such action by Euro1Net.

Meanwhile customers need a "migration authorisation code" to switch to another supplier, but Euro1Net said the action by BT means it cannot generate the codes to transfer users to one of its other suppliers.
