ENGAGEMENT MANAGER, BUYINGTEAM, 33
In 2000, at the age of 23, Martin became the youngest person to achieve a promotion to airport senior management at BAA. During his eight years as supply chain and IT manager he completed an MCIPS and an MSc in global supply chain on a programme sponsored jointly by Rolls-Royce and his employer. Before that he spent five years in purchasing and logistics at Ford Motor Company, starting as a teenager.
Lee joined buyingTeam last year, and within a month of moving into consultancy had won £900,000 of business and achieved more than £4 million savings for the FTSE100 financial services client. Another project saw him lead the implementation of Oracle ERP core purchasing and online procurement to a user base of 5,000.
His experience covers indirect procurement and IT delivery in retail, facilities management, manufacturing and financial services. His ultimate goal is to “help define the new world that procurement is operating in as a result of the credit crunch, inspiring others to get more involved with procurement as a career.”
