COMMERCIAL PROCUREMENT CATEGORY MANAGER, EUROSTAR, 31
Becoming a procurement professional was neither a dream at school or university for Hazel Cotton, who studied design management with a view to a career in advertising. But after she decided to chance a change in direction she says she has never looked back. And she has no doubt she will be an executive at either a blue chip or a consultancy within the next 5 to 10 years.
Cotton, who is currently studying for level 6 of her CIPS qualification, joined Eurostar in March and is already proving to be an asset. Her remit encompasses marketing, digital, PR, design, production, advertising, brand, direct marketing and media.
She is establishing an SRM programme as a forum for continuous improvement for Eurostar and its main marketing agency. She believes it is important for both to continuously challenge ways of working to reduce cost, which is resulting in a 20 per cent saving.
Prior to joining Eurostar Hazel held purchasing positions with Orange, Diageo via 4C, and direct marketing agency Proximity London.
