REGIONAL PURCHASING MANAGER, SOUTH AFRICA, FEDERAL MOGUL, 29
Gaining a range of purchasing experience in sectors such as fast moving consumer goods, automotive and the mining industry – all at the same company – has been key to David Wild’s career in procurement.
His first role was at South African procurement outsourcing firm John Williams Buyers, where he was responsible for purchasing at clients such as glass manufacturer Shatterprufe, plastics maker Lucite International and confectioner Beacon Sweets.
After joining automotive supplier Federal Mogul in 2007 as a purchasing manager in Pinetown, South Africa, he was quickly given responsibility for all of the firm’s purchasing in the country, reporting to the global team in Germany. He has made significant savings on commodities such as lubricants and packaging materials.
“His excellent communication skills and ability to see the ‘big picture’ were the predominant reasons for this move and this decision has provided excellent results for Federal Mogul,” says Kay Dwinger, purchasing director at Federal Mogul.
